The Westlake Preservation Historical Society is sponsoring its annual "Decoration Day" on Monday, May 26, 2008 at the Roanoke I.O.O.F. Cemetery, located on J.T. Ottinger Road in Westlake.
Please bring your blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy music, hot dogs, and homemade ice cream beginning at 6:00 pm. Judging for the ice cream making contest will take place at 6:15 with the main program beginning at 6:45 with emcee, Dave Lieber. After announcing our ice cream contest winners, Troy Meyer will provide an update on the Town's cemetery restoration project, followed by a historical re-enactment by Trent Petty.
Mayor Laura Wheat will officially recognize veterans on behalf of the Westlake community, which will be followed by a flag retiring ceremony at sunset. For more information or to inquire about volunteer opportunities, please contact Teresa Walton at teresa@nyrs.com.
